Slips, trips and falls are the
second highest category of injury in terms of cost and the number of accidents
each year. As such, employers or controller of premises, in identifying
potential dangers, are required to assess the potential for people slipping,
tripping or falling.
Amongst the most common causes of slips, trips and falls are steps, stairways,
internal/external floor and ground surfaces.
So what type of preventative
strategies can be put in place to reduce the odds of these accidents occurring?
Good housekeeping, visual aids and slip resistant footwear are all part of the
solution, along with increased friction and resistance for potentially slippery
surfaces. |
